Located in the Appalachian region of Caldwell, Ohio, International Converter produces packaging materials using thin aluminum from China. Not currently made in the U.S., this commodity has a regular duty rate and anti-dumping/countervailing duties of nearly 100 percent and is subject to further duties through recent presidential proclamations.
These duties threatened to make the products unaffordable for customers and could lead to closure of the 50-year-old facility.
Click here to find out how Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) #138 in Columbus, managed by Chinese Chamber member Columbus Regional Airport Authority, saved these jobs.
The FTZ is a federal program that helps companies better compete globally by deferring, reducing or even eliminating customs duties on imported products. Administered by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, Foreign-Trade Zone 138, is part of the greater Rickenbacker international logistics hub.
